Love Letter from a Friend!

Within the past few days, a young teenage girl looked at her life and saw no reason to keep living, no reason for hope. Fortunately (thank you God), her suicide attempt was very serious, but not fatal. Within a few hours, one of her teenage friends who was traveling out of state received word of the horrible tragedy. I have received permission to share with you the letter that she wrote and e-mailed back home. This letter was then hand delivered to the hospital bedside. Take heart from the loving, wise words of a 14 year old:

Brooke,

Hey! I don't know where to start. I'm really sorry for not being able to be there. I'm glad my mom is there to give this to you. Brooke, there are a lot of people out there who care a lot about you and you scared the crap out of all of us, I know it did me. I was worried all day, ever since my mom called me. She finally called me back when she got home at like 9 o'clock. I know some of the reasons why you did this, I'll never know them all, I'll never understand, but I want you to know that you can always talk to me about anything! I'll listen even if I'm in Georgia. LOL. I know a lot of people who would do the same thing, so many people that care for you, especially one, the one that would care for you if no one else did. Jesus. Sometimes he's the one thing that gets me through the day. I think that he died on the cross for us and has done so many other great things for us that I at least owe him something, something good.

Brooke, there's a reason you're here. I know, and you should know now more than ever. Everyone has a purpose in this world, you might not know what it is for a long time, but YOU do have one. I hope you'll listen to what I'm saying. This may not be the best time to tell you, but it's the truth. Well, I hope this has helped some, and Austin helped some. It's about the only thing I can do from 300 miles away, but I had to do something. Well I better go, it's almost midnight. Me (and many more) love ya!

Love,

Renee
